The Taleggio cheese Protection Union has been constituted, as corporate body without purpose of profit, in 1979, nine years before the formal recognition of its denomination of origin.
Now the Union has
55 members, 32 of them are producers, 23 are seasoners , 0 milk producers and 117
are dealers and join to the Union as users of the mark on the Taleggio cheese wrap.
The activities of the Union are directed, in general line, to the protection, to the qualitative improvement and the promotion of the production and the commerce of the Taleggio cheese.
These objectives are pursued through:
- technical assistance to the producers of milk and the dairies of transformation;
- promotional actions, to national and international level;
- activity of control for the correct use of the denomination "Taleggio", to protection of the originality and tradition of the production.
For its own activities the Union works in collaboration with Institutes of search, university Institutes, with the Ispettorato Centrale Controllo Qualita' of the Agricultural Resources Office of the and NAS (Anti Adulteration Group) of the Carabinieri Force.
